“Finding Peace in Dance”
This battle has not been an easy one…However, it has shown the beauty in finding the peace within the fight. It has shown the most love, joy, and compassion I have ever known to exist. This journey has not just impacted me, but those who love and support me. They are engaging in the same battle by choosing to be a part of my life. For that, I am eternally grateful for those who fight hand-in-hand with my family and me. There are not words to capture the love that has been given to us on this road… words can only do so much. However, when words fail, dancing prevails.
Dancing is an art form that can express the deepest emotions and thoughts. Dance is something that is a talent one of these “fellow fighters” has. Jenna Hensen is one of the sweetest girls I have ever met. She is basically part of our family. She graciously fills in the role the older sister for my younger sisters. She steps in and brings me peace knowing my sisters are loved on. Not only does she provide me endless joy, along with the army of friends I am so grateful for, she has a gift of dancing. When she dances, it is full of elegance and fluidity. It truly takes your breath away. Every chance I get to see her dance is full of my mind immediately being transported to the beautiful emotions she provokes through her movements. Its humbling for me to be able to say she has dedicated several of her solos to this journey. She gives the perfect outlet of thoughts when words do not suffice, through her dances. Ironically, we were in the same dance classes once. When I was much younger, and healthier, I took a few dance classes. We both had the same classes and flaunted tutus and adorable outfits. Little did I know, the little girl I was watching would grow up to be the most graceful dancer ever. From the moment she began dancing at the age of two with storybook ballet, everyone witnessing her movements were taken aback by the beauty she held. She would become a friend who stands by my side, even if that means chatting over medication infusions in the kitchen or in a hospital room, instead of normal outings healthy individuals have.
Recently she, and the rest of her Transcendence Dance Company, competed and displayed their incredible talents. Jenna demonstrated her pure heart of goal by dedicating her solo to this journey, and called her dance “Finding Peace”. Through her never-ceasing talents, and the brilliant work of choreographer Michael Knight, Jenna displayed her talents by placing first overall soloist in the age category of 15-18. The talent does not stop there… she, and her dance company, graciously donated some of their awards to my medical expenses. This donation was so gracious of them. Their gestures of compassion through their talent move me to tears. As I viewed the video of her solo, I knew I had to share it. Due to the length of the video, I could not share it on this page. However, if you go to either my Facebook Page or Instagram Page, where I regularly post more day-to-day things, you can see the video. There is a page on this blog that has links to those pages for ease of access. Her elegance and grace displays the emotions words can not capture. It is my pleasure to be able to share this video with you… this video, and this friend, are a big part of how we work on “Finding Peace”.
Thank you to ALL of my friends, Jenna, and the Transcendence Dance Company… Together we find peace,
Isabelle
