“The hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” Christopher Reeve
Isabelle is resting comfortably after her three hour surgery today. The team at CHW was amazing today. Really on their A Game, as usual. Dr. Arca was flawless in her surgery and Isabelle now has an ileostomy and a beautifully decompressed tummy. We hope and pray it stays that way and that she no longer suffers tremendous pain and distension. Dr. Rusy, the anesthesiologist, was so kind and let Isabelle walk into the OR for the surgery. They just wheeled the bed in after her. No pre-op versed (sedating) medicine for this girl. No way, She wanted to be lucid until the final moment.
Always so kind, Isabelle was thanking the team every step of the way preparing her today. Thanking the nurses for giving her fresh linens, thanking the doctors for their planning and preparation, thanking us for being here. Really? Thanking her mom and dad for being with her… She is so kind and gracious every step of the way and her calm demeanor never ceases to amaze me. She is grounded in her faith and continual optimism. She is truly my hero.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support. We feel the love and know we aren’t alone in this fight. We don’t know how long this recovery will be, and are hoping to be home soon. Isabelle will gladly post when she is able to give you an update.
Filled with hope,
